New information has emerged regarding the tragic Route 8 crash that claimed the life of 14-year-old Chloe Alyssa Ramsubhag of Waterbury, Connecticut, in January 2025.
According to law enforcement officials, Chloe’s father, Devin Ramsubhag, has been charged in connection with the incident following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities allege that Ramsubhag was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
Police reports indicate that medical testing determined his blood alcohol concentration was 0.16 percent, twice Connecticut’s legal limit of 0.08 percent. As a result, he was charged with driving under the influence and risk of injury to a minor.
The crash occurred on January 12, 2025, along Route 8 in Shelton. Chloe, a student at Wilby High School, suffered fatal injuries during the collision, leaving her family, classmates, teachers, and community members devastated by the loss of a young life filled with promise.
According to the arrest warrant, investigators determined that the primary cause of the crash involved another driver, identified as Carlos Beamonte of Shelton. Authorities reported that Beamonte’s vehicle struck the rear of the Ramsubhag family’s car, causing it to spin across the highway median. The vehicle then entered opposing lanes of traffic, where it was struck by another vehicle.
Investigators also noted that Chloe was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The case has drawn significant attention as authorities continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the collision and the factors that contributed to its tragic outcome.
As legal proceedings move forward, many continue to remember Chloe Alyssa Ramsubhag for the life she lived rather than the tragedy that took her. Loved ones and members of the Waterbury community continue to honor her memory while mourning a loss that remains deeply felt.
The investigation and related court proceedings remain ongoing.
