Family, friends, and community members are mourning the tragic loss of Jeremy Jackson, 19, who died following a single-vehicle crash in Bartholomew County, Indiana, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:30 p.m. to the area of North County Road 325 West near Lowell Road after receiving reports of a serious vehicle accident. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a heavily damaged SUV and immediately began providing emergency assistance to its occupants.
Authorities confirmed that Jeremy Jackson sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased. His death has left loved ones grieving the loss of a young life taken far too soon.
Three other occupants of the SUV survived but suffered serious injuries requiring emergency medical treatment. Investigators reported that two of the injured individuals were transported by ambulance to hospitals in the Indianapolis area. A third victim was trapped inside the vehicle and required extrication by rescue personnel before being airlifted by medical helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital due to the severity of their injuries.
Officials have not released the identities of the injured occupants, and no updates regarding their conditions have been provided.
The Bartholomew County Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities are examining physical evidence, roadway conditions, vehicle damage, and witness statements as part of the ongoing investigation.
At this time, investigators have not determined what caused the SUV to leave the roadway or whether factors such as speed, impairment, weather conditions, or mechanical issues contributed to the collision.
