The family of Tawny Christner is mourning a heartbreaking loss after the 63-year-old Clearlake Oaks resident was killed in a tragic multi-vehicle collision in Chico, California.
The crash occurred Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of East Lassen Avenue and The Esplanade. According to the Chico Police Department, investigators believe an 82-year-old driver entered the intersection against a red light at a high rate of speed and struck the rear of the vehicle in which Christner was riding. The force of the collision pushed the vehicle into the intersection, causing it to collide with several other vehicles.
Despite emergency response efforts, Christner was pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter, Alicia, who was driving the vehicle, sustained minor injuries.
