It is with profound sadness that we remember and honor the life of Matthew Neil Estes, a remarkable young man whose presence brought joy and warmth to everyone he knew. Matthew, age 17, of Mt. Juliet, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 29, 2026. Born on August 29, 2008, in Hermitage, Tennessee, he was the beloved son of Kenneth and Emily Estes, and a cherished brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Matthew’s zest for life was evident in everything he did. As an excavator, he took pride in his work and found great satisfaction in his skills. His generous spirit was also reflected in his “unlicensed towing service,” where he eagerly lent a helping hand to friends with his truck. A passionate outdoorsman, Matthew loved hunting and fishing, often spending time in nature and creating lasting memories. His kindness was boundless; he never met a stranger and was truly a friend to all, always eager to lend a helping hand or share a smile.
Matthew cherished his animals, especially his horse, Uno, and his loyal dog, Coco, who were integral parts of his life. His warmth, adventurous spirit, and genuine kindness leave a lasting legacy that will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Kampa; paternal grandfather, Robert Estes; and uncle, Wayne Estes. Matthew is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Emily Estes; brother, Jacob (McKenzie) Estes; maternal grandfather, Clyde Gray; paternal grandmother, Bonnie Estes; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Bond Memorial Chapel, with Bro. Danny Tomlinson officiating. Interment will follow at Vivrett, Graves, Brown & Estes Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Bond Memorial Chapel from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins. Matthew’s brothers and uncles will serve as pallbearers. Our hearts are heavy with grief, but we celebrate his life, remembering a young man whose kindness and spirit touched us all.
