The Lambton College community and the wider Sarnia–Lambton soccer family are mourning the passing of Kevin Simmonds, longtime Head Coach of the Lambton College Women’s Soccer Program, who died on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
His sudden passing has left a deep void among family members, friends, colleagues, former players, and all who were shaped by his guidance over more than two decades of dedicated service to the sport he loved.
Kevin was widely respected as a coach, mentor, and advocate for soccer development in the region. As Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer Program, he played a pivotal role in shaping generations of student-athletes, many of whom credit him not only for their growth on the field but also for the life lessons he shared beyond it.
Known for his welcoming presence, steady leadership, and genuine passion for the game, Kevin had a remarkable ability to connect with players and colleagues alike. Lambton College Athletics described him as an integral figure within the athletic department whose influence extended far beyond competition. In addition to his work at Lambton College, Kevin was deeply involved in community soccer, including youth development programs that helped inspire and guide young athletes. His commitment ensured that many players found opportunity, confidence, and a lasting love for the game.
